Mexon CI Bridge

Mexon CI Bridge

The Mexon Technology ITSM CI Bridge provides you with the bridge to other environments to connect and thereby provide you with relevant information. This relevant information is then used to check and improve the data in terms of value and accuracy of your configuration items in the CMDB and attributes that your organization needs to support their core service management processes.

CI Bridge

The IT environment of an organization in the 21st century contains a large quantity of systems that contain information about the IT environment itself. Except of course your Service Management CMDB there are systems for the distribution of software, monitoring, discovery, inventory and so on.

All of these tools have their specific purpose and value and can all contain (some of) the valuable information you need to validate and complete your service management CMDB. But these are usually all separate areas with their own interface. Mexon Technology has made a connection (bridge) to connect these sources of information, the ITSM CI Bridge.

As you can bridge multiple environments, you can increase the chance to get the data through the use of multiple methods that yield the best possible results at the end of the process. In ITSM you already have the ability to create your own CI definition and decide which attributes you consider relevant and how you want it to be controlled by the validation rules that you need. The CI Bridge can create and update CIs, and completes and validates the values of the attributes that you have defined. After the CI Bridge has been set up all will be done automatically and you retain full control! Nothing will change without control (unless configured).

If you are serious about maintaining the contents of your CMDB and you seriously want to work with Configuration Management, you must use the ITSM CI Bridge with fewer headaches to obtain the necessary information in your CMDB.

The ITSM CI Bridge has the following characteristics:

  • CI Bridge is a standard interface that businesses use to combine the CMDB and the live infrastructure.
  • Fully configurable
  • Full control and registration of (possible) changes in the ITSM CMDB
  • Partial and full activation of the bridge (and even simulate turning on a bridge)
  • Complete mapping, of the elements found, on the CMDB CIs and attributes
  • Via manipulation and / or a combination of attributes you can form new attributes via the bridge
  • Ability to edit and update installed software for total license control

  • The ability to set up email notifications for changed attributes and / or other CI Bridge results
  • Aggregation: Mapping shows a composite view of a CI with attributes from different systems and de-duplication of data across multiple views of the same CI. Mapping can be done over a range of KI (product / class level) or for individual CIs
  • Visualization: Built in iET ITSM, CMDB Graphical viewer to explore dependencies and scope of CIs per account and service
  • Automatic variance comparison, compares previously recorded configuration item between the inventory in the CMDB with the CI Bridge. The CI Bridge identifies unauthorized changes via these equations
  • Synchronization: The data is compared with the current state of the CMDB and identifies differences.
